Ca Mau Province in Mekong Delta

Ca Mau is the southernmost province of Vietnam. It has three sides that face the sea, so we call it the peninsula. Ca Mau where the Mekong River empties to the South China Sea. Ca Mau is the only province in Vietnam that border the South China Sea to the east and the Gulf of Thailand to the west. Ca Mau is about 350 Km to the south of Saigon. Ca Mau has a small domestic airport, so you can travel to Ca Mau by air, sea, and land. You may be surprised when you visit Ca Mau city, you often don’t see slum areas and dirty streets. The roads are often big and paved, traffic congestion never happens in this city with 350 thousand inhabitants. Public spaces in this city are big enough to support outside activities for its citizens. Ca Mau has attracted a lot of domestic and international tourists by its unique location and nature.

Where should you visit in Ca Mau?

Ca Mau Cape is the southernmost point of Vietnam, it is about 60 Km to the south of Ca Mau city. You don’t need to have physical strengths to reach this location. On the way to this location, you can see a vast of mangrove forests on both sides of the road. When you reach Ca Mau Cape, you are able to see both the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand Sea. This tourist site attracts a lot of domestic than international visitors.

Ca Mau also has U Minh Ha national forests that are recognized as one of UNESCO’s biosphere reserves of the world. This national forest is a diverse ecosystem area with many plants and animals such as mangroves, reeds, vines, deers, pythons, freshwater fishes, etc. Ngoc Hien Bird Sanctuary is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Vietnam with 130 ha where migratory birds can stop over during their journey destinations.

With this unique land, the Ca Mau crab is considered a food specialty. This crab has firm meat and juicy red crab roe. People often cook crab with shredded papaya and tamarind.
