In early May of last year, Indian police caught a pigeon in Mumbai port. Indian police suspected a pigeon of a Chinese spy after police discovered two rings attached to its two legs inscribed with some Chinese words. The bird was sent to Mumbai Animal Hospital for detention while police investigated. Finally, police found out that the bird was a Taiwan racing bird, it escaped its owner and found its way to India. Indian Police cleared a suspected Chinese spy pigeon after 8 months of ordeal lockup and released it to the sky in Mumbai. This is not the first time, Indian police locked up pigeons for spy investigations. In 2020, police in Indian-controlled Kasmir caught a pigeon after it flew over heavily militarized zones. In another case in 2016, the Indian police caught a pigeon with a note threatening the Indian Prime minister at that time.
