Why You Shouldn’t Eat Raw Fish

A Californian mom was amputated all her arms and legs. The story began when she bought Tilapia fish at the local market, she cooked the fish and then ate it, and she almost felt ill immediately. She was rushed to the hospital, the doctors found out that she had been infected with flesh-eating bacteria called Vibrio vulnificus. In order to save her life, the doctors had to amputate all her limbs. She is originally from Mexico, and she lives with her boyfriend who has two children, and her six-year-old son. According to the CDC, there are about 150 to 200 cases of flesh-eating bacteria per year in the US. 1 in 5 cases leads to death. Many victims are required to amputate limbs to save lives. People with weakened immune systems are easy to become victims of this bacteria. This bacteria is present in marine environments, we often call it a foodborne disease. People who eat raw seafood or undercooked seafood may get infected with the bacteria. This bacteria is dangerous to people who have weakened immune systems, especially to people with liver disease. To healthy people, this bacteria may cause diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc. It is better not to eat raw seafood to prevent many diseases.
