Nowadays, we hear a lot about global warming issues such as heat waves, sea level rise, droughts, etc. I am sure that many of us want to do something to mitigate global warming which affects human life. Before we want to solve the problem, first we must recognize the problem.
Global warming is caused by nature and human activities. Nature such as the Sun is becoming hotter or volcanic eruptions, etc. Human activities such as fossil energy like coal, gas, etc. According to scientists, humans consume fossil energy that emits carbon dioxide ( C02) into the atmosphere. Many scientists concluded that C02 is the primary factor that caused global warming in human activities.
We look at the picture above we see that the sunlight reaches the earth, and the earth absorbs the heat from the sunlight. Even though the sunlight reaches greenhouse gases first, they can’t absorb the heat from the sunlight because of the greenhouse gases’ chemical mechanism. Afterward, the heat from the earth reradiates to greenhouse gases (C02 and other gases) in the atmosphere. At this time, greenhouse gases can absorb the heat from the earth. Afterward, they reradiate the heat back to Earth (causing global warming) and out of space.
We look at the picture above we can see that the best way to reduce C02 is to plant more trees to absorb C02 through photosynthesis. Many people want to use radical ways such as reducing drastic fossil energy consumption. It is impossible when we consider financials and the economic impacts on ordinary people. How many people can you convince them not to use air conditioners when the temperature is over 36 Celsius degrees? I am sure that many global warming activists use AC all the time when the temperature is hot. If we change quickly to renewable and clean energy, we will have colossal environmental damage too.
Deforestation is the biggest threat to our human history. We can mitigate global warming by combatting deforestation, especially in poor countries where overpopulation is associated with deforestation. We can’t convince poor people don’t use cheap energy, air conditioners, or cars. But we can show them that, they can have the lifestyles of the rich countries when their fertility rate is the same level as the rich countries’ fertility rate.
