Good Things Need to Learn From The US

I just watched a video on social media about motorbike accident in Vietnam. That accident led to two adult males fighting with a male foreigner. The two Vietnamese males used hands, legs and helmets to attack a male foreigner. Because a short video doesn’t show the whole story, so I can’t comment which party is wrong or right. A short movie made me “a stomach sick”, because Vietnamese people often use violence to settle traffic accidents. I have lived in the US almost two decades, but I have rarely seen people use fighting to settle their traffic accidents.

When you guys watch TV or social medias about the US, you may see some car accidents lead to altercation, but traffic accidents rarely lead to fighting or violence as you watch on the US TV. Social medias often show abnormal or rare story to attract audience. This is a strategy of social medias to catch viewers. In the US, there are more than 80% people use private cars as their transportation. General in the US, when car or traffic accidents happen, the drivers often get off the cars to look at accidents. If there are no damages in their cars, all involved car accident drivers can go on their ways. In case of car damages caused by accident, they often exchange insurance information when one party admit wrong in accident. When both parties of car accident don’t agree which party is wrong, police often are called to take care of accident. In case of passenger or driver injuries, police and ambulance are often called to transport the victims to hospitals.

The road infrastructures in the US are so good, the local roads or high way with paved lanes, road signs can help drivers to follow traffic laws and minimize the road accidents. Each state in the US has the authority to create traffic laws, but traffic laws are almost the same in the US. Many people assumed that the road infrastructures and traffic laws make Americans more polite, but the reality is the education and American culture make their traffic culture more polite than other countries. In the US, all drivers stop when the red light is on. They stop when ambulance, police car, firefighter truck are on the duty. In addition, drivers stop when school bus pick up or drop off students.

In Vietnam, there are traffic laws, but people often ignore traffic laws when police are not in sight. Many Vietnamese people blamed Vietnamese government for their country not become a developed country. I don’t see any developed countries with citizens don’t follow traffic laws strictly like Vietnam.

Before I migrated to the US, I blamed Vietnamese government for everything. After I have lived in the US for so long, I think we should not blame every for others. Sometimes, we don’t want to change, why we expect others to change. I hope you guys enjoy my writing. Please leave comments and share to support my blog.
