He told me that during the time he worked at the shop, he had an opportunity to befriend with a beautiful girl who was about half of his age. She seemed interesting in him. At that time, he had just divorced his wife so the need of sex was needed. She seemed proactive to flirt him by approaching him with small talks. She always found any opportunities to close to him. A few weeks went by, he thought this was a good time to take “the easy meal”. Fortunately, a rumor reached to his ears about police were investigating about him. He was suspected as a drug dealer. He noticed something wrong about a beautiful girl. She was an attractive girl, half of his age. He was an immigrant who didn’t know English well, ugly, unattractive man, broke. His heart talked to him: ” this is a lovely story”, but his mind reminded him think about something wrong in his love story. He started to distance himself from her in order to observe about her behaviors. After a few weeks, he concluded that she might be an undercover because he was ugly, dirty. Even his friends and relatives always cover their noses and mouths when they stand close to him. And the beautiful girl seemed pretend to love his smell. So he had to quit his job in order to keep his body away from trouble. I told him: ” you are not a drug dealer, why are you afraid her?”. He answered ” Can you imagine what happen if she made a mistake?”. I guessed “You would be partial paralysis or become history.
In this story, I want to remind immigrants especially who weren’t born or grew up in the US. Life in the US is so complicated. You should learn from people around you, or TV, school, books. When you encounter some things strange, you should follow your instinct. If mistakes happened, governments often say like that we are deeply sorry for your losses caused by our mistakes.
